Over the next week Henry is home on spring break. He’s not off hitting the beaches, so he’s spending his week at home with his grandmother. It’s interesting timing since most of our life is packed in boxes with our move coming up this weekend. We all know how hard it can be to entertain a bored toddler, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try the Heroes of the City Movie App.
Don’t let the name fool you. There are a lot of Heroes of the City movies on the app (up to 6 hours – wow), but there are up to 9 fun games too. I like having the mixture since it supplies a lot of entertainment.
As many of you know, Henry loves anything with wheels. So he was immediately interested in the Heroes of the City Movie app. He’s love the few movies he’s already seen, I think Paulie the Police Car is his favorite character right now. Like I mentioned earlier, there are up to 6 hours of movies. Impressive! You can even play them on your TV from the iPhone/iPad via AirPlay. Which I really appreciate since he likes to be able to watch on the TV.
There are up to 9 different games available with this app and Henry has enjoyed them all. There seem to be two he likes the most at the moment. The fire engine game he loves. You need to go and put out all the fires as they pop up. He’s a bit obsessed with fireman at the moment (He’s even named his little brother “Firetrucky”) and he seems to really like the fast action challenge. He’s just starting to enjoy games that are more like older kid’s video games, so this is great step up for him compared to some of his iPad apps.
His other favorite is the memory game. Always a winner in his book. I like how they stage up so they start off with less cards and eventually have more and more to make it more challenging. Sometimes if it starts with a lot of cards he’ll shy away and ask for help, but with this since it’s gradual he plays on his own the whole time. It’s a great confidence builder.
The app has a variety of games. This is what really makes me like this iPhone/iPad app for Henry. I feel like he gets to have some healthy fun and the content is certainly safe for him. He gets to earn some trophies and have fun with some great games.
Want to give it a shot? It’s free at iTunes and Google Play. The free version comes with a truncated version of what we were able to play with. You’ll find that there are in app purchases that you can make to add on to your child’s experience. I always like these set ups because I can try before I buy! The suggested age range is from 2 to 6 years of age.
I hope you check out Heroes of the City Movie app and your kids love it as much as mine did.
