Snow (ice) days in Texas!

© 2013 Two Moms and a Kid As many of you have heard, the DFW area was hit by an ice storm last week. Henry was out of school Friday, Monday, AND Tuesday. It was madness being stuck in the house that long. We were able to escape a bit on Sunday but didn’t get too far any of the other days.

Henry has seen snow before, but he was never very impressed. Cold and wet are two things he’s not a fan of, so the combination wasn’t exactly a winner in his book. This year though he seemed pretty eager to go out. So I got him all bundled up and ready to go and then quickly realized that we didn’t have a sled. I ended up finding a knee saver pad and pulled out an old dog chain and pulled him all over the yard. His giggles during the rides were priceless.

While we had to improvise quite a bit, he had a blast. I’m glad he got to have a couple of days he could really go out and play on a few real winter’s days.

I took a lot of photos since we never know how often it’ll snow/ice enough for him to actually get to slide around in. Here are a few winners.

Happy to report that the one tree I thought we lost bounced back.

We certainly pooped the kid out. Best naps he’s had in a while.

My favorite part of the ice storm (other than playing with Henry and hanging with Mandy of course).

We had a great time out there. For us the storm was a success. I’m glad we never lost power and had plenty of firewood and movies. I’m ready for the next one. Hopefully it will bring real snow…

Cheers!
